Seeing that the morning after pill is now available to the general public, I do not see the need of legalising abortion. To my knowledge when a woman is in danger because of the pregnancy, a choice is given at that point which is rightly so. However, the fetus should be protected by the constitution, as the rights of the fetus are always being forgotten, and only women’s rights are being promoted, with the liberty of terminating for any reason. We are living in a world which is pushing towards being pro-life, having people against bird hunting and yet somehow in favour of abortion. Logically, this does not make any sense and therefore I believe that this needs to be safeguarded and covered by our principles, and made clear once and for all. I wish to thank you for giving the public the opportunity to sound their opinion on the future of this Island’s constitution.
